About Canvas Prints

The Term: The term "giclee" (zhee-clay) connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. A giclee is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-tech reproduction done on a special large format printer. Images are generated from digital files and printed with archival quality inks directly onto the canvas. This canvas is similar to traditional art canvas and is specially made for this process. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than any other means of reproduction.

The Process: Our prints are created using a professional 12 color printer. The process employs archival quality pigmented inks and multiple print heads resulting in a very wide color gamut. Our canvas has been tested and given the highest Fair Art Trade Guild rating as an archival canvas. The combination of archival inks and canvas means that our product will maintain vibrant color for over 100 years even in indirect sunlight. As an added feature we add a clear coat which enhances the durability and appearance.

The Print Quality: The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes. It has become the widely accepted replacement for lithography, since the range, or "gamut" of color for giclee prints is far beyond that of lithography. Giclee prints have evolved into the new standard in the art world.

Our Line: Large format printing requires that the original image is of the highest quality and resolution. We then enhance the artwork for edge-to-edge sharpness that creates an almost three-dimensional appearance. Our art is finished in the popular gallery wrap format, eliminating the need for framing. The result is a stunning high-color artwork that will become a statement piece in any room.
